Watercolors are very different from oils and acrylics. They are fluid. Unlike oils or acrylics they don’t stay where you put them. This particular property make them fast .They are not  for detailed work. Of course one can paint a watercolor for days together like oils but then you lose the spontaneity which is one of the most important characteristics of watercolor.
